BTCV Enterprises delivers real results for employers and jobseekers alike
Kerry left school without qualifications and worked for a short time in a low skilled job. Five years later she found herself with two small children and no direction, “…going nowhere”. She asked for support from Job Centre Plus and was allocated a Lone Parent Advisor who referred her to BTCV Enterprises. When Kerry joined BTCV she was hoping to work in the retail sector.
Her Skills Analysis interview showed that Kerry had a keen interest in health and social care but believed her lack of qualifications and experience would prevent her finding work in this area.
A BTCV Employment Co-ordinator secured Kerry a 13-week placement with CANTO, working with young people who have learning disabilities and mental ill health. During the 13 week placement, a vacancy came up and CANTO encouraged Kerry to apply.
She is now employed as a Client Support Worker providing one-to-one support to two young people. Recently her role has developed and she will be leading group sessions. CANTO will support her while she gains her NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
Kerry said, “BTCV Enterprises has completely changed my life. Working here has made me realise I can move on and I can be happy.”
